The Best Ways to Celebrate Earth Day This Year in Indianapolis

Earth Day has arrived! It’s one of our favorite days of the year because it’s a day to celebrate the honor our home. There are many events happening around Indianapolis to celebrate Earth Day. Here are a few of our favorites:
Earth Day Indiana Festival
Where: Military Park, 601 W. New York Street, Indianapolis
When: Saturday, April 23
As one of the country’s most outstanding yearly Earth Day events, the Earth Day Indiana Festival has plenty for the whole family to enjoy! This will be the first year that the Festival hosts a 5k run/1-mile walk, which will begin at noon (registration starts at 10:00am). As always, there will be locally produced food and beverages available, along with exhibitors promoting conservation, environmental protection, and sustainability. And for the little ones, there is a children’s tent that features hands-on activities and performances. Admission is free.
Indianapolis Zoo
Where: 1200 W. Washington Street, Indianapolis
When: Mon-Thurs: 9:00am to 4:00pm, Fri-Sun: 9:00am to 5:00pm
Although the Indianapolis Zoo is open all year, Earth Day is a great day to take the kids! Check out the many species from various habitats and learn about conservation. There are many adorable baby animals to see as well! For more information, please visit www.indianapoliszoo.com.
Mission Monarch
Where: Cool Creek Park & Nature Center, 2000-1 E. 151st Street, Carmel
When: Saturday, April 23, 1:00pm to 4:00pm
This activity teaches participants of all ages about Monarch Butterflies, their habitats, and importance in our eco-system. Learn how to welcome them to your yard by growing milkweed plants (and you’ll get to take a plant home). You will also get to enjoy nature hikes, where you will learn about the many wildflowers found in Indiana.

In addition to presenting the best Earth Day events in Indianapolis to our readers and customers, we are striving to become more environmentally efficient in every aspect of our business. As always, we do a thorough inspection of each vehicle before reselling so that they run as efficiently as possible. We also recycle many of our auto parts when we are finished with them. Around our office, we are in the process of establishing a recycling program and installing LED lights, which will reduce our light energy consumption by 90 percent!
